Saltaire Festival History
Since its inauguration in 2003, Saltaire Festival has progressed; experimented with new ideas. Sir Titus Salt's Bicentenary & the 150th Anniversary of the opening of Salts Mill set the ball rolling..

National & Regional Arts, Theatre and Musical Performances have made a dramatic impact in West Yorkshire, since the launch of Saltaire Festival. Attendances have risen to a total of 30,000 - just for the Finale Weekend.
The Inaugural Saltaire Festival hosted more than 70 events; many family orientated & free!
What you see below is a 'Look Back' at previous Festivals, year by year, showing how the Festival has now almost doubled in size. Thanks to all the Volunteers, Sponsors & Advertisers who have made this possible.

2003
World Heritage Status was approved by UNESCO in 2001 & with the commitment of the late Jonathan Silver, who saved Salts Mill and also Saltaire Village Society, who helped propagate the great idea of creating a community based Festival.
2004
'Here & Now' was a memorable occasion: a greater variety of acts & events on display. Music & Dance took off in a big way, with Exhibitions at Salts Mill and Victoria Hall (SALTAIRE: Arts In Action)

2005
'Inspiration For Our Time' created a great buzz for visitors and residents alike. Maps became more important; we had to show people how to get here! The Piazza Stage events outstaged all in West Yorkshire.

2006
The best Festival I've ever been to' "Absolutely everyone is saying: It's just like Bradford Festival used to be.." ' The best weekend I've had in a long time - can't wait until next year now' - just a few comments we received as feedback.
'The Magical Mix' reinforced the emphasis on the stunning location & architecture, which is Saltaire. The Carnival Parade, involving local Schools became truly established as an entity in its own right.
2007
During the 10 days of the Saltaire Festival 07, all the events were well attended and much enjoyed. Many more images can be found on home page
'The Magical Re-Mix' confirmed the success of the Festival, now in its fifth year, as one of the most successful in the UK. The Arts Trail was a major factor, along with excellent programming & publicity.
