This year, Saltaire is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site, one of only two in Yorkshire.
As part of Saltaire Festival 2021, we are excited to share details of our fourth poetry competition. This year’s theme is ‘Our heritage: the evolving history of Saltaire’. We are encouraging writing which reflects on local history, heritage, Saltaire’s built environment, its changing community, and local heroes and heroines.
Poems must be no more than forty lines long and can be in any poetic form. There are two categories: under eighteen and adult. The closing date is Friday 16 July. Winning poets will be awarded a book token and will be given a chance to read at a Festival event in September 2021. Winning poems will also be published on the Festival website. Please send entries to firstname.lastname@example.org
