Could peat bogs help save the planet? Where might you find a Pirate Wolf Spider? And did you know oak trees can live for up to 1,000 years?

Celebrate the Bradford Pennine Gateway National Nature Reserve with Bradford Culture Company’s Nature Big Day Out, a free day of family-friendly activities taking place across Shipley Glen, St Ives and Bingley North Bog on Saturday 19 September, from 11am-3pm

At Shipley Glen, explore Bracken Hall Countryside Centre and Museum and enjoy foraging, den building, bushcraft, arts and crafts, storytelling and mini nature walks. The historic Shipley Glen Tramway will also be running nearby from 12 noon-4pm.

At St Ives, activities around Coppice Pond include bug hunts, bog making, land art, wood whittling, forest bathing, wildlife workshops and nature play for younger children.

Bingley North Bog will offer bog tea making, arts activities and birdwatching, with nature historians sharing fascinating facts about the bog and the wildlife that calls it home.

All activities are free and there’s no need to book. Activities take place outdoors, so dress for the weather.

All ages are welcome, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Check connections, locations and find out more at Nature Big Day Out.
