The biggest ever retrospective of the work of Simon Palmer, a leading British watercolour artist, Yorkshire Perspective features work from 1980 – 2017. Palmer’s connection with his much-loved Wensleydale home and imaginary world is unfettered by current trends and opinions. From the familiar, he creates illusions which hover on the brink of reality. ‘Like other British artists before me, I draw a spiritual connection from the land in a specific place, offering my personal perspective on the rural landscape’ he says. ‘I’m inspired by specific locations, but I don’t paint it as a real place, it’s more about capturing the spirit and atmosphere rather than an accurate portrayal’.
